Busy Time for Boys Team

The 2020-21 Rockets Boys had two meets against Appleton North/East and Bay Port last week! It was great to be back racing in the pool!

We host Appleton West/Kimberly this Tuesday, Dec. 15 and                 Oshkosh North/Lourdes on Dec. 22. 

We are fortunate to have immediate family members be present at the meet, but we miss seeing other fans there too.

All of our meets are being Live Streamed this season, so you can follow the Rockets that way! The FVA Conference website has all the links, just go to the host school's site.

We are working hard as we start Week 4 of the Boys' season.

Week in Review

 We dove into the 2020 season a week ago!

Each week the coaches select Athletes of the Week (AOWs). They are chosen for a variety of reasons and announced at a team meeting during the week.

Make sure you have your clothing orders placed! They are due TODAY, Monday, Aug. 24th at 11:59pm!

August Practice Schedule

 Our practice schedule for the week of Aug. 17th-22nd:

• Swimmers will practice 8-11am - will be divided into two pods/groups that will rotate between the pool and dryland/weight room during that time. Tennis shoes and workout clothes needed everyday!
• Divers will practice 11-12:30 - communication will come from Coach Foulks to divers/their families on any changes to the schedule.
• No practices on Sunday
• Practices on Aug. 24, 28, 29 will follow the same schedule as the week of Aug. 17th.
• Practices on Aug. 25-27 - more info to come - those are teacher inservice days and we are waiting to hear what our schedules will be for those days. Most likely practices will be 3:30-5:30pm, same schedule as school days.

It was great to be back in the pool together last week for contact days! No contact the week of Aug. 10th, but we know that you'll be getting ready for the season.

The first day of the season is Monday, Aug. 17th! Practice at 8-11am for swimmers and TBA for divers!

Updates and Apparel Store

The volunteer training sessions will begin on Monday, Aug. 3rd, as some details are still being worked out.

• I will be sending out a Google form link on Friday afternoon, asking if you would like to attend the sessions and the times offered
• The google form information will be reviewed and those attending will be placed in training groups (pods)
• I will notify athletes of their training group time by Sunday afternoon
• For your planning purposes - the last volunteer training session will be Aug. 7th (WIAA decision)

Rocket August Update

We are set to start our season on Monday, August 17th!

We are working on what practices will look like and hope to have more information for you later this week. 

We will compete in our first meet in September! 

We are unable to attend Nonconference meets this season.

We've received donation of team masks! Everyone gets one! 

We are looking to have contact day activities starting the week of Aug. 3rd. More information is coming!

2020 Girls Season

Starts in 1 month on August 11th!

At this time we are still scheduled to start on August 11th.  We plan to swim 8-11am in August, but that may vary depending on how many girls can be in the pool at a time.  We will know more as the starting date approaches and will keep you posted!

I just read an article in the Post Crescent where TJ Watt, who plays in the NFL and grew up in Wisconsin, was encouraging Wisconsin's high school student-athletes to "Stay ready, so you don't have to get ready."

Also, just a reminder to get your athletic paperwork turned in prior to the start of the season. Listed below are ways to get your paperwork to the NHS Athletic office.

Physicals must be dated after April 1, 2019. If  your child needs a physical, we will need a hard copy of the completed physical form in the Athletic office.  With Covid 19 procedure the building is closed, so there are three ways to get it to the Athletic Office :

1. Either scan it and send it to:  ldohr@neenah.k12.wi.us 

2. Mail it to: 

    Lisa Dohr

    1275 Tullar Road

   Neenah Wisconsin 54956.  

3. Drop it off in the drop box located outside of door 11 ( across from the tennis courts). Label the form titled "Clearance" .

Please make sure that it is totally filled out with:  students name, date of birth, age, sex, etc.  and make sure it is dated and signed by your Doctor.

The NHS pool is mostly busy during the first week of summer with lots of activity with camp! We miss seeing everyone this summer! 

   We will be back for our 9th Rocket Swim Camp in June 2021!

We made it to Summer! We couldn't have imagined that the school year would finish this way, but I'm proud of the way that you continued to work hard in your classes from your homes!
