Neenah Places Third in WSN Cup State All-Sports Standings

Nine sectional championships and seven trips to team state tournaments in 2012-13  helped Neenah finish in third place in the large schools division of the Wisconsin Sports Network Cup, which recognizes the state’s top overall athletic programs.
The finish is Neenah’s highest in the six-year history of the award and marks the fifth time the Rockets have placed in the top 10. It is also the fourth straight year that Neenah has been the highest-finishing Fox Valley Association school in the standings.
Points are awarded based on finishes in WIAA state tournament competition with a maximum 100 points given to the state champion school in each respective sport. The top 32 teams in each sport earn points. Neenah finished with 506 points, which was its most ever and closely behind second place Homestead’s 507.6 points. Arrowhead won the cup for the sixth straight year and amassed 735 points. Appleton North was the second-highest FVA finisher at 15th place and Kimberly finished 16th.
Neenah had the most points of any large school in the state during the spring with 245 points on the strength of a runner-up finish in boys tennis and fourth place finish in girls track and field. The Rockets also earned points with state tournament appearances in baseball, boys golf and girls soccer.
In the fall, Neenah racked up 231 points with a runner up finish in girls cross country and sectional titles in boys soccer, girls swimming and diving, girls tennis and girls volleyball. The Rockets earned 30 points in the winter behind a regional title in girls basketball and an 18th place finish in boys swimming and diving.
Overall, 15 of Neenah’s 22 varsity sports qualified either teams or individuals for WIAA state tournament competition. The Rockets also won seven FVA team championships in  2012-13.

Great America!

Coach Raeth and I would like to give a shout out to our captains who planned this year's trip to Six Flags Great America.  We had a big, fun group, and the weather was pretty much perfect. I think it's safe to say that a good time was had by all.   Thanks for putting it all together, captains!

Banquet Video

A big thank you to Coach Raeth, Coach Foulks and Coach Vicki for hosting a fabulous awards banquet last night! It was impressive to see all of the accomplishments achieved by the 2012 NHS Swim and Dive team.

There were a few team members who were unable to attend, so we thought you might enjoy the opportunity to watch the videos shown at the banquet.

A special thank you to Coach Vicki for unprecedented behind-the-scenes photos of the team activities, to Paul Arnold for capturing the girls in action in the water on film and video, and to Paula Sears for sharing hundreds of her fabulous team photos.

Watch for a future post with information on ordering a copy on DVD if you are interested.

Enjoy!

Sectional Champions!

Yahoo!  All that hard work and commitment paid off this past weekend!  We are extremely proud of each and every member of this year's Sectional Team!  This win was completely a team effort--we could not have done it without each and every member's contribution!

Our ladies will head down to the State meet on Friday afternoon.  The divers will compete Saturday morning, and the swimmers will swim in the afternoon.

Oshkosh West Natalie Bolin Spirit Invite

 Hi!

I thought I'd post some super-fun pictures from Saturday's Spirit Invite.  Without a doubt, the Spirit Invite is always the loudest, most ridiculously fun meet of the year.  This year was no exception.  The girls decided on a "nerd" theme, and as you can tell, they went all-out dressing in the part.  : )
Our divers and varsity swimmers were awesome in the pool, and our JV swimmers did a fabulous job cheering them on.
