2013 State Diving Champion, Hazel Hertting!

There she is, our very own State Champion, Hazel Hertting!  Look how great she looks on top of that winner's podium!  Check out that big smile!  That is the smile of a champion--someone who has trained hard and accomplished her goal. Hazel certainly had a banner day on Saturday, scoring 463.10 points to take home the title.  Her score is the 6th highest in Wisconsin state diving history-- wow!  The entire team, student body, and administration is incredibly proud of your accomplishment, Hazel!  Way to go!

Want to see how she won?  Check out these shots of Hazel in action on Saturday:

 Amazing, right?
You are a true champion, Hazel!
Congratulations!

Congratulations, 2013 Sectional Champions!

Hi Swim & Dive Families!

Well, Saturday was definitely one for the memory books!  What a fabulous, complete team effort!  Every single member of our Sectional team added to this year's Sectional win.  It was simply amazing.  We knew going in it was going to take everybody's very best effort (and several personal best times and dives) for us to take home the trophy.  Our Neenah ladies delivered in a huge way!  I have never had so much fun at a meet!  There is nothing like seeing people you care about achieve their goals!

State qualifiers Caitlin Miller and Hazel Hertting (Sectional Champion!):
The fun started on Friday night at the Diving Sectional meet.  Our very own Hazel Hertting dove her way to the title of Sectional Champion (and automatic State qualifier!) with 496.30 points. Caitlin Miller also had an excellent meet and finished 3rd with 362.90 points.

On Saturday, it was our swimmers time to compete.  First up:  the 200MR.  Our relay team of Kate Hugo, Kiki Rice, Rachel Resch, and Abby Hollub took 2nd with a State-qualifying time of 1:50.36:
After that, Hannah Sisto and Abby Hollub competed in the 200 Free.  Hannah finished 5th with a time of 1:57.46, and Abby finished 6th with a time of 1:57.75.  Both of these ladies qualified for State with those fantastic times:
Then it was time for the 200IM.
Kiki Rice took second with a State-qualifying & team record time of 2:11.88!
Next, Rachel Resch took 4th place in the 50 free with her State-qualifying time of :24.57.
Emily Morris finished 9th with a time of :25.76, and Malena Waters finished 17th with a time of :26.22.
After the break, it was time for the 100 fly.  Once again, Rachel Resch swam a State-qualifying time.
Her 2nd place finishing time of :57.94 was also a new team record!
Joining Rachel on the podium was Hannah Sisto, who finished 3rd with her State-qualifying time of :58.91.  Karla Rodriguez finished 10th with a time of  1:04.97
Then it was time for the 100 Free.  Abby Hollub finished 5th with a time of :54.50, and Kate Hugo finished 6th with a time of :54.87.  Malena Waters came in 14th with a time of :57.65.
Our 200 Free Relay, made up of Malena Waters, Kate Hugo, Emily Morris, and Hannah Sisto, finished 6th with a time of 1:42.69
Kate Hugo took 2nd in the 100 Back with her State-qualifying time of :59.83, and Lindsey Coons finished 4th with a time of 1:01.88.
Two Neenah girls made it to the podium in the 100 Breast.  Kiki Rice finished 6th with a time of 1:10.65, and Emily Morris finished 8th with a time of 1:11. 37.
In the end, it came down to the very last relay.  We knew that we would win the meet if we finished 2nd or 3rd.  If we finished 4th, we would end up in a tie.  Our 400 Free Relay team of Rachel Resch, Hannah Sisto, Kiki Rice, and Abby Hollub finished 2nd and smashed the team record with their State-qualifying time of 3:34.64:
And with that, the whole team celebrated.  It was an amazing win by an amazing group of women.
Congratulations, Neenah Swim & Dive ladies--2013 Sectional Champions!

On to State!
